Costa Rica
The Costa Rica site is located in San Jose, the capital city of Costa Rica, and home of 3 million of the country’s 5 million inhabitants. Students will be working alongside Missionaries Adam & Sarah Quinn. The Quinns have been in Costa Rica since 2014 and work in three areas: University Ministry (Red Universitaria – RU), Community Development, and Church Planting, but university ministry is their primary focus. Students will become student leaders on campuses across San José, working with Costa Rica student leaders to impact the 250,000 college students that call Costa Rica’s 60 campuses home. Weekly students will be involved in Life Groups, 1on1’s (discipleship method), and campus outreach. The campuses of Costa Rica are desperate, hopeless places plagued with depression, anxiety, and suicide, which have intentionally pushed God aside (see more at www.AdamandSarah.org/focus). Students will have the opportunity to bring hope and change lives by developing impactful relationships on campus.
In addition to university ministry, students will be involved in a new church plant sitting in front of the University of Costa Rica, the nation’s largest and most prestigious campus, located in San Pedro. The church is called “Somos,” which means we are, and has a specific focus of impacting San Pedro by creating true, transformational relationships and community. There are infinite opportunities for one’s giftings to be used within the university ministry and church plant including graphic & web design, video production, photography, social media strategy and development, music, English clubs and classes, artistic expressions, administration, maintenance and construction, and so very much more. If you are willing to be a servant and use your giftings for the Lord, then Costa Rica may be the perfect fit for you.
